XL Re appoints Middle East Manager

 — LONDON, March 29, 2011 – XL Re, the global reinsurance operations of XL Group plc (NYSE:XL), today announced the appointment of Dermot Dick as Manager, Middle East.

Mr. Dick has extensive experience in the Middle Eastern insurance and reinsurance market, most recently as CEO of Q-Re, the international reinsurance operation of Qatar Insurance Company (QIC). His previous roles included Executive Vice President, International Underwriting at QIC and Deputy Syndicate underwriter at Syndicate 1243 at Lloyd’s.

Dermot has a proven track record of running a successful reinsurance operation in the region.
