Gary joined XL Group in 2010 to develop a new business unit solely dedicated to addressing the risk management needs of the construction industry. In 2011, Gary was appointed a Managing Director for XL Group Leadership Council.
Gary’s career spans more than 30 years, dominated by underwriting management positions in construction and energy. Before joining XL Group, he spent more than 20 years with Zurich North America Commercial, most recently as President of Construction. During his time at Zurich, he was responsible for North America Commercial's wide-ranging portfolio of operational transformation initiatives. He held various other senior management positions, including Chief Underwriting Officer for North America Commercial and Director of Property Lines. He was also a member of Zurich's board of directors and executive committee. Gary spent the first nine years of his career with Industrial Risk Insurers as a risk engineer for the energy industry.
Gary holds a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from Northern Illinois University and a Construction Risk Insurance Specialist designation.
