Carla was appointed Chief Excess Casualty Underwriter for XL Bermuda Ltd in August 2012. She leads operational and underwriting management, including development of underwriting strategies and products, infrastructure and service capabilities. Earlier, she served as Senior Vice President of Operations and as an underwriting manager.
Before joining XL Group in 2011, Carla held progressively senior underwriting and management positions with several established and start-up commercial insurance companies in the Bermuda insurance market, including Torus Insurance (Bermuda) Ltd, ACE Bermuda Insurance Company, Allied World Assurance Company and Zurich Global Energy. She began her career with American International Group in 1992.
Carla is a graduate of Warwick Academy and St. John’s University’s School of Risk Management (formerly the College of Insurance, New York). She is an associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute.
